in a what is known as a Distributed Denial of Service
Attack taking down websites across the country. Pegasus Ventures operated websites experienced no

Are you kidding me, Dyn?
Reading Dyn's response to this event leaves
this webmaster feeling puzzled. No apologies, nothing but
thanks for the help received along with weird self
congratulations along the lines of, "Acknowledging the
tremendous efforts of Dyn’s operations and support teams
in doing battle with what’s likely to be seen as an
historic attack." Okay, sure a historic attack, but one
thinks it wiser to prepare for the historic attack in
Who is Dyn and what happened?
Dyn is part of the backbone of the internet. It works as a middleman to make sure that when you type in a URL like twitter.com, you get to the correct site. So think about it this way, when you ask a device to take you to a particular website, the request goes through operators like Dyn. In this case Dyn was attacked overloadeding their ability to deliver your device and connect to the requested website or app. The attacks are credited with disrupting thousands of sites, but some users found the sites accessible via mobile phones as Dyn where Dyn has no role in routing that traffic. The websites, themselves, never crashed, the traffic just got stuck at Dyn. The problem was anyone routing through Dyn never got where they wanted to go while Dyn was under attack.
The reality is internet service providers, like
Comcast Xfinity, route traffic through Dyn.
Is my Pegasus Ventures website subject to attack? am I protected?
Absolutely to both questions. Let's be honest, any
site can be attacked and yet most of us are so small no
one comes after us, no headlines come from attacking us.
However, Pegasus Ventures websites stand well
protected with our Wild West.GoDaddy partnership.
We experienced a similar attack in 2012. From that
point GoDaddy put in place even stronger measures to
meet these attacks. One never knows if the security is
enough, the only choice is to step up preparedness and
then jump on problems as cyber attacks hit. If there is
good news in this event, it is learning just what
capabilities a bad actor may have as technology
